The Valley of Ash

Actually, there is no valley of ash except for the one metaphorically described by Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby, Chapter Two.

What I'm referring to is this giant cloud of ash that seems to be sweeping across parts of the world and detaining people in foreign countries because no planes can go in/out of a giant cloud of ash. Sounds dangerous. No, but doesn't it seem like the world is coming to an end? We have devastating earthquakes, hurricanes, GIANT ash clouds, global warming, etc. in the past decade or so. Is this a sign?

...
JUST KIDDING. No, it's not a sign - the world isn't going to end (I don't think?). Which reminds me - if the world REALLY does end in 2012, I'm going to be really mad because that would be the end of my first year of college and I had to go through the entire process of working hard to get into college. Only to find that my life is ending 365 days later. Tragic. Anyways, on a more serious note, what is going on in the world? The idea of being more and more ecologically friendly is growing on me as I see the concept of reusable water bottles, "green" clothing and handbags, shoes, notebooks, etc. I find myself wanting to be part of this eco-movement.

THAT is why I am taking A.P. Environmental Science next year. So I can actually understand the concept of global warming and this theory that scientifically speaking, the world will one day self-destruct because of mankind's evil carbon footprint.

WHICH also brings me to my next point: Earth Day is April 22nd! Remember to recycle, don't mass print papers you don't need, carpool if you can, and go outside and take a walk, get a breath of fresh air. Enjoy the Earth! ... While I study for my A.P. Exams.
