I was looking through Yahoo! News, and I came across an article concerning Dierdre Scozzafava and the Republicans' reactions to her sudden support for Democrat Bill Owens. Now people are talking about how perhaps the GOP doesn't like moderates, doesn't accept anyone who isn't a hardcore Republican. Well...from a logical perspective, wouldn't you want someone who was more Republican-oriented in decisions to be a part of your political party - if you, yourself, are a Republican? Why on earth would anybody want someone to be a part of their party when the person in question could possibly one day switch parties (e.g. Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania). Yes, the Republican party has its work cut out. There is much reconstructing, rebuilding, and re-campaigning to do, but that's no reason to suddenly assume that the GOP is falling apart.
So everyone take a deep breath and relax. The GOP isn't going anywhere. =)
